Dear Christians: What Are Some Party Games and Activities We Can Play With Friends?

Dear friends,

I’m a Christian and I’ve always wondered why so many Christians are against drinking, partying and weddings?

See, I’m not here to add, take away, contradict or nullify the doctrine given by God. I’m sure there are many Christian teenagers out there who have asked themselves this important question.

Partying is an inevitable phase of adolescence. While your friends are off having fun, meeting new people and playing games, you, being a loner, sit in front of a screen all day. It’s true that we might live in this world but we do not belong to it. And, one of the primary reasons why many refuse to partake in such festivities is due to the resulting behaviors that are considered unsavory by the Bible.

I’m aware of all the temptations each Christian may face, but the truth is that the Bible does not prohibit drinking and celebration. If you take a look at 1 Timothy 5:23, Deuteronomy 14:26 and the fact that Jesus went to a wedding banquet and turned water into wine, it’s difficult to call for complete abstinence from drinks and celebrations – of course, the Bible also outlines certain boundaries that we are not supposed to cross.

Now, there’s a second question that often goes along with it: Am I allowed to participate in party games and activities?

The answer comes in two parts. One, activities and games that abide by Bible’s teachings, do not cause any harm and do not lead to any sinful behavior are permissible. Two, if you are the one organizing a party – be it a wedding anniversary or a birthday bash – how about centering these activities and games on Christianity?

 Bible Quiz Game

 Bible Quiz Game

Trust me, a Bible quiz can be as fun as playing board games or a safer version of Squid Game.

All the questions should revolve around Christianity such as the Bible scriptures, teachings and so on. You can have two teams of players, one against the other, and the more difficult the question is, the higher number of points a team will receive upon giving the right answer.

Here are some questions you can include in your quiz:

  • How many books are there in the Old Testament?
  • On the third day of creation, what did God create?
  • What does God’s name “Jehovah Rapha” mean?
  • What is the longest Bible verse?
  • How many wives and concubines did the King Solomon have?
  • What is the sixth commandment?
  • Give all the nine fruits of the Spirit?
  • How many Psalms are there in the Bible?
  • For how much did Judas betray Jesus?

Love Thy Neighbor

Love Thy Neighbor

It was a game we created during a youth group gathering at church. It is based on Christianity’s main principle – to love your neighbors.

All players should sit in a circle. Then, on a piece of paper, write one act of kindness you are willing to do for the person next to you.

Some examples of acts of kindness are:

  • Help in household chores
  • Buy groceries
  • Teach in cooking
  • Help them in tending to their garden
  • Buy a gift

However, remember that once you’ve written down and promised to provide assistance with anything, you have to keep your word.

The Christian Version of “Never Have I Ever”

The Christian Version of “Never Have I Ever”

This game is so common and popular that it must define your college years.

Again, the premise and the rules are the same, except for the questions. Instead of asking, “Never have I ever played hooky from work/school”, go for something like “Never have I ever read Psalms” or “Never have I ever slept in church.”
